Hi Kylie,

Welcome to the forum, thanks for digging up some old threads, hopefully you will have stirred up some new convo as this place has got a little quiet lately! Laughing

Hope to see lots more of you and your huge tribe of little ones.

Kay

Oh Helen, don't mention the hooves LOL. Laughing
Trimming time is interesting to the point where i have 2 farriers. Local farrier pops out when ever needed & a farrier from a good 2.5 hrs away comes up every 6 wks, does at least 5 of mine plus another 5 to 10 others.
I do actually trim the broodies/companions myself but get Mark (Bill does the mini showies) to go over them & so far i'm doing a great job, Mark does some of the mini showies & big showies if need be.
Worming time is good too - not! LOL. Mainly because a few of the big neddies are pains in the butt!
We use Liquid Womers only (& rotate, still use paste if i can grab a few tubes when on special etc), but i tell ya now, a bulk pack of liquid wormer makes life soooo much easier, even for the naughty horses! Razz
And teeth!!!
I will admit i pay MUCH less for having my horses teeth done, because he's a long time family friend & my old boss on the Polo Stud. He charges everyone $70, regardless of the horses size. I get 3 done for $75 so i'm laughing LOL.
And it's not hard work with the upkeep etc, my 6yo son helps alot (amazing how much a 6yo can really do Wink ) & none are in ridden work, i'm rather lazy with my showies, the mini's only get paddock exercise & i walk them in hand, very rarely lunge LOL, the big neddies, hmmm they live a very relaxed life waited on bloody hand & foot! Embarassed

Oh my, what a novel! affraid Sorry guys...
Thanks for the welcome, hmmm i like to talk lots LOL! Embarassed

Hi again Kylie, I hope you realize that the nana nap mentioned was just thinking about the work involved, not the length of the post, te, he. Laughing I adore reading about everyone's horses, dogs, lives, farriers and just salivate when they mention problems with hooves. Laughing Do you ever get a break from all those hooves, teeth, worms, naughty horses etc.? Shocked I think my two know I'm green: as I was cleaning out Sparrow's front hooves this morning, he fell asleep on my back...
I would be encouraging those two kids to think about a career in Veterinary science.
Cheers
