PostSubject: My latest bundle of joy   Tue Feb 16, 2010 2:47 pm

This is my newest bundle of joy, born 8th Feb. Mare slipped her out in the mud and rain one morning. Long story short, mare was sold to me as due in Sept '09 but nothing happened, didn't look visibly in-foal but started getting a little udder at the end of Jan, so I brought her in to the foaling paddock just in case, and next thing I know I have a little 17" chestnut filly!

She had a rocky start, but she is doing great guns now and is the cheekiest little thing, she defies her protective Mum all the time so she can come up for pats and attention. I have never had a foal who loves to follow people around so much.

Her name is Badlands Sundancer because when she was born, the sun came out after about a week of non stop rain.

(sorry for all the pics, I am like a doting grandma)

I entertained the idea of selling her, but she is too adorable. Even though the mare is still very protective of her, she couldn't care less, she defies her mum to come wandering down the paddock to say hello to me. She'll be nowhere in sight one minute and the next she's nudging the back of my leg. The other two fillies were a bit stand offish at first (things have changed nowadays although they are still wary of some people) but little Sunny has always had no qualms about coming right up to anyone to have a sniff and a stick beak.

Yeah, she's out of one of the Junolan mares. I am not sure if the other mare is in foal now or not, she would be due mid to late next month, and she doesn't really LOOK in foal, but neither did Shadow and look what happened with her! LOL
