Hi...
I have never taught this to a mini,I have to a riding horse but I was in the saddle.
Basically you go back to the whole body language and pressure points.
I would first be trying standing at him head and swining the lead in a circle at his neck or tummy,this may work....it sort of "drives" them with body lanuage.
Or you could stand at his side,and poke him in the side sorta mid way down his rib cage, and tell him to get over,eventually he will pick up when you point at his side it means to move over....
There are plenty to ways to do it....
I have my last show for the year on Sunday,then I am going to be teaching all mine to half pass,find out what works for your horse =)
