My taffy gelding has a cream coloured mane, and it always looks dirty and detracts from his overall appearance. I have been suggested a few products to use to whiten it, but does anyone else have some magical concoction that will make it cleaner looking by Sunday? Laughing

DONT use nappi san...... Billys tail is still a glorious shade of yellow from that escapade....

I used to have the same problem with cappa lol.....Just scrub scrub scrub and maybe try that mighty bright....what have you got to loose? it's only $9.95 Very Happy

And anyway.....I think he looks quiet gorgeous anyway now he has been clipped !!! I rekon he will do really well

THW didn't have that mighty white, but they had a similar thing that cost $40 Shocked and it just looked like Bloo which I already have, so I am gonna give that a whirl first and if I don't have any luck, make a mad dash up your way to get some of that other stuff lol

How much of it do you use? And do you just mix it with shampoo and water, wash and rinse, or do you leave it in for a while? I don't think I use enough because it doesn't seem to do anything, but I am scared of using too much.

So I tried blu like everyone suggested and found I must be doing something wrong too because it made no difference....

My new favourite product to turn yellowed hair white again is Decore blonde toner.

I use a couple of the lid full and put it in a bucket of water. I do leave it on for a few mins. Repeat if needed.

I also use it on my white show guinea pigs too.

Yeah that's about the same as what I do, mix a few cap fulls with a bucket of warm water, but I also add shampoo to the water, so maybe they are cancelling each other out.

PostSubject: NEED my tail WHITE!   Thu Sep 30, 2010 6:04 pm

I've been stressing about this on another forum so thought I would post here. I need something that is going to KILL this yellow tail and make it white again...and by Sunday and preferably without spending a fortune. I have already invested more than $50 in this horse's tail, trying to make it white...but so far, nothing. And I work so hard for not a whole lot, too Sad

This is the tail in question;

And this is what has failed-
Lemon Dishwashing Detergent
Hoss Gloss
Sards Soap
Nappi San
Purple Shampoo
Some random mousse for yellow hair to make it white (can't remember name)

And our latest failure; Magic Silver White (unless someone can give me a step by step instruction on how to do it...exact to the number of drops to compare it to how I am currently doing it...)

I don't want to waste more money. i want something that works. (And her tail is not naturally yellow either, it's white).

If anyone could help...I'd be eternally grateful! Smile

Its not going to come out over night,It is badly stained from her weeing in it all the time.I dont have any magical fix but to stop it getting any worse.Wash it plait it and put it in a half water proof tail bag, the ones you ty at the base of the dock.It has to be water proof. In time as you wash it a couple of times a week it will fade.

Yeah on my girls who like to piddle in their tails, I use a combo of lemon dishwash and Hoss Gloss like you have already tried. It bring it up brighter but never gets all the yellowing out, thats longterm staining like Kimmini said, but if you can get the top part looking cleaner, and the whole tail free of dirt and crusty bits, any good judge will be able to see thru the yellow and know you made an effort.

Besides, isn't she pally? A bit of yellow won't look so bad as it would on an all white grey.

If you really want to cheat you could dust some chalk thru her tail, but then if you go in a best presented class and the judge handles her tail, you will be caught out Laughing

yeah, unfortunately I've been washing her tail for three weeks now between trying these products and so far - no fading. Maybe I just have to say stuff it and forget about it. I've been recommended the champion tails stain remover though...so contemplating giving that a try before throwing my hands up and forgetting about it.

Dang owning a palomino! Never owned one before...had I known I'd be entering this show, I would have washed her tail from the day I got her!

Napi san sucks and turned Billys tail yellower!!!

But I feel your pain....Desert has a thick long tail and wee's all over it and it looks worse then your girls....
Looks like I will be getting into getting it white in my showing down time between this last show and next year!

Also..... I am about to try some mighty bright from the saddlery....It is made by equinade so intersting to see if it works.

Also...those colour enhancing shampoos dont work on stains unfortunately

Let us know if the mighty bright works, I like equinade's products, I use their show silk and have done for years.
